In this book, you can explore and discover six of Colombia’s natural regions: the Insular, Caribbean, Andean, Pacific, Orinoquía, and Amazon regions. Along the journey, you’ll be accompanied by six explorers from different countries: Lewa (Haiti), Anastasia (Greece), Zhazira (Kazakhstan), Marvens (Haiti), Salimata (Mali), and Mathias (Belgium). Together, they get to know each region through its geography, gastronomy, and the artistic forms of expression that are unique to each place.

- Each region consists of four components and capsules, which provide explanations and examples related to grammar, vocabulary, or the use of verb tenses. You will also find notes with additional explanations or interesting facts connected to the topic being discussed.
- Grammar component: In this component, you can learn about different verb tenses, starting with the four past tenses in Spanish and ending with the present subjunctive. Overall, the capsules in this component explain how to form regular and irregular verbs in each tense.
- Lexical component: In this component, you will find groups of words and expressions used to describe the characteristics of each region. The vocabulary relates to what can be observed in Colombia’s diverse landscapes, as well as to local ingredients and dishes from regional cuisine, and to the names of musical instruments and traditional dances.
- Functional component: In this component, you can learn how to use the verb tenses covered in each region. In every region, you work on different communicative intentions that you can apply depending on the context of the communicative situation.
- Intercultural component: This component is cross-cutting and spans all the units in the book. Each activity has been designed to enable an encounter not only with the Spanish language, but also with the diversity of Colombia’s territory. Therefore, completing the tasks in this book is an opportunity to get to know Colombia from different perspectives.
- The skills you can develop by completing the tasks in this book include: writing, reading comprehension, and listening comprehension. In addition, audiovisual materials are available to support the development of listening skills.
- The book includes texts and reading comprehension exercises, as well as tasks designed to practice verb conjugation, region-specific vocabulary, and correct sentence structure in Spanish.
- At the end of each unit, you will find answer keys to the exercises so that you can check and assess your own learning progress. This way, you can use the book independently or during Spanish lessons.
